Fabulous Friday Nov 13th

What an amazing response to last week's Fabulous Friday. It's fantastic to see so much support and positivity towards these posts and to the ladies envolved. I absolutely love writing them and getting to know the person and their story. Thank you to each and everyone of you for taking the time out to let me do this and for those of you who have read the posts.

Well another Friday is upon us and I cannot believe we are half way through November already. As some of you may know last Friday I got my eyelashes done, (a little treat to myself) and I cannot believe, the amount of people that have noticed, commented and complimented them. Because of this I thought it only fitting to do this week's Friday post on the fabulous and talented lady that worked her magic on me. So this week's feature is all about Pille from Crystal Lashes @ High Glamour.

It was about 8 years ago when Pille got her own lashes done back home, and she was amazed that someone had invented something this incredible. Pille fell in love instantly with the idea and the product. So she decided to do a course on eyelash extensions. Back then it was a service that was very new, and there was not that many technicans around. Fast forward a few years later and in 2011 Pille and her friend decided to open up their own salon. Which was a big risk as Ireland at the time, as we were in full swing of the recession. But they had a dream and they were ambitious.

Just a little information on what they provide;

Eyelash extensions are Pille's speciality. She does Classic mink lashes costing €50 and also volume lashes at €70. (I got the volume ones and im addicted) They also offer microblading 3D eyebrow embroidery. Its a semi-permanent make-up procedure which has become extremely popular within the last year. It lasts 12-18 months and is perfect for people who have hairloss problems, are dissatisfied with the shape of their eyebrows and/or just want to wake up with instant makeup every morning. Other services include threading, make-up, nails and hairdressing services in salon- cuts, colours, highlights and upstyles. Details on how to contact the girls are below

High Glamour

Add their Facebook page for details on offers, Services and also to book appointments

Also add Crystal Lashes on Facebook for appointments, offers and more pictures (Christmas bookings being taken at the moment and filling up fast)

On a final note I just want to say that Pille is such a lovely person, a working mum, business woman, entrupenur. I really admire women like her. Not only did I receive fantastic service but for me quality is everything. A week later and my lashes are just as perfect as they day I got them. There are alot of similar services out there but you get what you pay for with Crystal Lashes. I know I'm now officially addicted

Thanks Pille

Fabulous Friday (23rd of Oct)

The weekend is finally here, and to make it even better, its a Bank Holiday too. I'm very excited to introduce you all to this week's Ms Fabulous Friday. This girl will give you all the make up inspiration you need for the weekend ahead. Kate from Makeup by Kate is a freelance MUA with over 16,000 followers on Facebook, and over 4500 on Instagram, and its easy to see why as she truly is one very talented girl.

Kate started out by working for a well known salon named Making Faces in Gorey, for a few months while she was in college. Once she had finished college in 2013, she then worked for MAC for about a year and a half. She is now a freelance makeup artist and is available to travel to people's homes for weddings and special events. Kate ocassionally works out of Ceira Lamberts Hair Salon in Dublin. Ceira Lambert is extremely well known throughout Ireland and has numerous celebrities from both Ireland and the UK attending to her salon on a daily basis. Through working with Ceira at the salon she has had the opportunity to do makeup for models such as Nadia Forde and Vogue Williams. Kate is also a tutor at the LA college of Creative Arts where she teaches bridal and editorial as well as some SFX makeup.

So a little bit more about Kate and some make up tips and advice

Where did you train to become a make up artist?
Theatrical and media makeup at Dun Laoghaire Senior College

What is your favourite and/or must have product/s?
Mac strobe cream
Inglot gel liner #77
Mac skin base visage primer

Do you follow any other beauty or makeup bloggers and if so who do you love?
I mostly follow makeup artists on Instagram but I like to go onto Michelle Phan's beauty blog to have a read. She is a YouTube sensation.

What tips would you give to any girls wanting to become an MUA?
Work hard and don't ever think that your done learning. Even if your great starting out don't ever think that you can't be better. Makeup is constantly changing with new trends coming and going so it's really important to keep up to date with the trends especially because there are so many makeup
artists in Ireland alone now so you need to stand out.

What beauty or make up tips would you give to us ladies?
If you want your makeup to last for you make sure your prepping the skin well before you apply your foundation using primer is a must for me. It hydrates the skin as well as controlling the oil to stop your makeup from separating. Another thing is enough with the Scouse brows.... I think brows make or break a look. Everybody wants their brows to look great but some girls can over do it. Especially blonde girls going far too dark with their colour. My favourite brow products are Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade I use the shade blonde.

What make up look is your favourite?
You can't beat a smokey eye. I love going really dramatic on the eyes and even adding a bit of shimmer or glitter onto the lid for some sparkle. I would then keep it quite subtle on the lips and go for a nude colour.

Which celebrity always has flawless makeup and which celebrity would you love to work on?
I have to say I love the kardashians and think their makeup is always perfect. Although they wear a lot I love it. I would love to do one of their makeup some day haha, especially Kim's but that's wishful thinking.

So whats next for the future of Make up by Kate?
For now I have a busy few months coming up to Christmas with makeup bookings but in the new year I have lots of plans. I want to focus on my YouTube Chanel and get some videos up and running. I would love to bring out my own makeup brand or brush line so who knows someday hopefully that
will happen.

Watch this space girls, its obvious Kate has a very bright future and we will be seeing alot more of her. If you would like to follow her via Facebook, Instagram or YouTube, please see links below

A massive thanks to Kate

Fabulous Fridays (9th of Oct)

There was a fantastic response to last week's "fabulous fashion friday" and again I want to say a massive thanks to Sharon for letting me feature her in the first ever edition . I've been thinking alot since last Friday and talking about the concept with a few friends, and I've come to the conclusion that the article shouldn't solely be based on fashion. Everyone is fabulous in different ways so from now on this feature each week will be based on different people for different reasons, fashion, beauty, business women etc. I think it will open it up to highlighting women not only for their beauty or style but also for their achievements.

On that note I'd like to introduce this week's Ms "Fabulous Friday" Margurite Murray. Margurite is a local business woman and salon manager of The Bay Beauty Rooms. She is a qualified beauty therapist with over 8 years experience in the beauty industry. Margurite is absolutely stunning with her blonde hair, blue eyes and flawless completion (she belongs on a Californian beach :)) She always looks effortless day or night, and is not only beautiful on the outside but also is a genuinely nice person.

Margurite is pictured below with her friend Katie and I think you'll agree they both look ultra glam. This skater style dress is from a boutique in Gorey called Ruby Rouge and is just perfect for a wedding, the black strappy heels and fascinator draws attention to the black velvet detail in the dress and this rustic colour is just beautiful on her. The make up adds to the outfit with the dark smoky eye and nude lip and her contouring is on point. I just adore the droplet earrings, a very elegant touch to the outfit.

This blue AX Paris dress is divine on Margurite and I am obsessed with the jewellery piece, it is so unusual. I love her hair, it's casual but sleek with the side sweeping quiff showing off the neckline of this stunning dress. Very Hollywood red carpet. The red lip colour draws attention to her hair and face perfectly highlighting her  flawless makeup.

Now this playsuit is to die for, I am officially in love xx (it's from online.ie) The pattern so simple and not overbearing. Margurites figure is amazing in this and her hair and make up compliment the outfit perfectly. In the second half of the picture again this dress is so simple but oh so beautiful and could litterally be worn anywhere, day or night and teamed up with anything, add the golden tossled hair and this look is effortless chic. The white dress is from River Island

I've asked Margurite a few questions and to give us ladies some beauty hints and tips.

What one make up or beauty tip would you give us ladies?
Always take off your make up after a night out as your skin rejuvenates whilst you sleep. Also less is more...

What's your favourite beauty product?
The Elemis Frangipani Monoi Body Oil. This product is amazing and can be used on hair, body and nails

Where is your favourite place to shop?
Zara

What's your one favourite thing in your wardrobe?
Has to be my Aline black leather mini skirt from Oasis, it is perfect for a night out but can also be themed with a pair of black tights and a jumper for a casual look

What's next on your wish list to buy?
A pair of Manolo Blahniks

Which celebrities style do you love?
Cheryl Versini Fernandez, I've always loved her and her style

What's the best present you've ever received?
A Michael Kors bag and purse, I love them

I'm sure you will all agree Margurite looks beautiful in all her looks and I want to thank her for allowing me to feature her this week. If you guys would like to nominate a friend for next week please feel free to message me or else I will be on the hunt for the next Fabulous Friday

Luv Lisa xx

Wedding Fever

There is nothing more I love about a wedding than getting to see all the guests dressed up in their beautiful outfits. It's the one occasion that us ladies tend to go all out for and yesterday I was blown away by all the glamour at my friends wedding. So much so that I was pestering girls for snaps of their outfits. There was that many stunning outfits we would be here all day and night going through them all so I just picked a few to share with you guys

First up was the ever so glamorous Arel. I think you'll agree she looks like she has stepped off of a Hollywood red carpet. I really don't think this picture does justice to how amazing she looked. The dress is from Boohoo and is still available online. Arel teamed the dress up with a elegant pair of black stilettos and black and gold drop earrings

Next up we have the stunning Michelle and this floral number from Asos. The colour was just divine (a mix of blue/mint green) with s beautiful print. The shape of the dress hugged her figure perfectly with a sexy with the off the shoulder detail. She paired it with a fab pair of nude shoes from River Island.

This beauty Linda opted for a 2 piece, a black satin skater style skirt from ASOS matched with a beautiful lace nude top by Mylene Klass for Littlewoods. The colours really complimented each other and Linda matched them with these amazing Carvela shoes. The pop of colour in the shoes gives this classic outfit a personal touch. I love this and I think Linda looks stunning

The mother of the Bride wore an amazing metallic blush toned dress from Jenny Packham. The jewel detail around the neckline was to die for and she matched it with a similar toned bag and heels. The fascinator added an extra touch of class to the outfit and I think you'll agree she looks amazing. One of the, if not the nicest mother of the brides outfits I have ever seen

Samantha looks like a goddess in this slinky green jewelled number. This dress is a definite eye catcher with its rich jewel toned detail and it is so beautiful no accessories needed as it speaks for
itself. I love the sexy side slit and you really get a Bollywood/Grecian feel from this dress. It is from Virgo Lounge, look the brand up their dresses are amazing, real head turners

I think you will agree that these ladies look so beautiful and would give any celeb a run for their money. I honestly would wear each and every one of these outfits.

A lot of bloggers do posts on what they have worn themselves (outfit of the day) but that's not really my thing, however I did put up a picture of what I was wearing yesterday. I want to start sharing fashion posts on outfits other girls are wearing because I get very inspired by other peoples fashion choices. I believe women should compliment and empower other woman. We can be a strange bunch, and a lot of the times we will see another woman and in our heads we think "wow she looks amazing, I love her top etc" however we are not great at sharing those thoughts by telling them.

On a side note the bride looked out of this world. I haven't shared a picture of her as I want her to be the first to share her wedding photos but I will tell you her dress was stunning and she was so beautiful. I just want to end by saying Congrats Mrs Cowan, I hope you and Danny had the day of your dreams xx

Body Image

I've been thinking alot lately about beauty/body image and how hard it must be to be a young girl these days. Especially growing up in the world we now live in, it's hard enough being a teenager without the constant focus on how we should look. The endless beautiful celebs, magazines, tv, social media highlighting these beautiful women making us ordinary people feel ever so insignificant and basic. It seriously frustrates me that we have become a society that generally looks up to a person for their beauty and not their achievements. Young girls idolising celebs/models/reality stars, comparing themselves to them which is totally unrealistic because these people do not have a normal lives. Who gets out of bed in the morning and has instant access to a make up artist and a hairdresser waiting in the wings. Some of these influential celebs have nothing of any substance to say, they can be just a walking product. They make young girls feel that surgery is the only option or dieting is a must for the perfect figure. What is the perfect figure anyway? Where is the definition of what is beautiful?

I'm like every other girl that I know, I can tell you a million things I don't like about  how I look. I have days were I wish mirrors didn't exist. Yes I am a "skinny minnie" to say the least and I constantly get told how lucky I am to be the size that I am (especially with my unhealthy ways). To be honest I know I am very lucky, I really am... but that doesn't stop me picking apart my flaws and finding myself disappointed I wasn't gifted with better skin or nicer hair for example. It's ridiculous I know and totally materialistic and I actually get angry with myself for not just being happy with who I am. I often wonder why I think like this, why do these things matter to me? I'm not really sure to be honest, have we been brainwashed into caring about our looks so much that it can be all that seems to matter sometimes? In reality I would rather be a nice person than a supermodel (not saying supermodels aren't nice people) and the older I get the more at peace I have become with how I look.

I am happy I have 2 boys because I would be very worried about what kind of world my daughter would be growing up in. Not saying that boys don't have these pressures I just think that girls have
that little bit extra. Such a constant focus is put on weight that girls are starving themselves or making themselves sick. Some sittimg at home flicking through social media, self loathing in turn leading to depression. I urge every young girl and woman to be inspired by you..work on loving yourself for who you are. We might not always like what we have got but it's what we've  got so make the most of it. Tell your friends that they are beautiful, tell a stranger even but most importantly tell yourself

Luv lisa xx

August Payday Beauty Buys

So as I had said in my most recent post I did a bit of shopping at the weekend and I picked up these little beauty buys along the way. I love trying out new things and I don't know if it's just me but I tend to be late to the party when it comes to new products because either (a) I don't wanna believe the hype or (b) I just can't afford to go out and buy everything I see (poor me) :)

I have the worse hands, they look so old and are always dry and I have tried so many hand creams, that don't work or even leave my hands with a horrible greasy residue. I absolutely love this, the smell is gorgeous and my hands feel amazing. It was around €7/8 euro but was reduced to around €5 and I also got 25% off so I was delighted with this little bargain

I go through phases with foundations and normally my usual go to is MAC pro long wear but every now and again I get bored of it and I try something new. Recently I tried the famous Estée Lauder Double wear because I need a long lasting foundation as I tend to touch my face alot and by the end of the day half my make up has usually ran off. The high end foundations are great but expensive and as I wear make up everyday (for work) I run out pretty fast and it can cost me quiet a bit. Other  bloggers, especially the American ones swear by the Loreal True Match foundation. So I felt it was about time I tried this one and it was a great price of €14.99 very affordable. I got the 4N Beige and I like it so far but we will see how long it lasts tomorrow when I'm at work :) I also picked up this clear complexion Rimmel powder for €5.99 in transparent for a matte finish. Handy to have for an extra bit of coverage.

Now this is my favourite product that I have ever ever tried. It was €18.99 but Oh my god is it worth every penny..... It smells divine, gives a gorgeous shimmer to your skin and my skin also feels amazing too. If you were to go out and treat yourself, buy this.... I honestly highly recommend it.

What's your best beauty product?
